Welcome Back, Kate!
As we begin a new semester at Greenhouse Studios, we asked both new and returning students to share a bit about themselves, their summer experiences, upcoming goals at GS, and broader career aspirations. These responses are from Kate Czajkowski, one of our CLAS Undergraduate Research Assistants.
What has been significantly meaningful to your experience so far?
I had a blast working on the Fashion Plate Index project over the summer!
What questions and curiosities do you have on your mind?
Perhaps not a question or curiosity, but a hope— I would love to work on a project this year related to my majors in Political Science and Human Rights!
What do you want to be “when you grow up?” Put another way, what do you see your trajectory being after graduation? Would that trajectory be the same or different if you had no constraints and unlimited resources? (In this context, “constraints” and “resources” include skill sets and expertise.)
In the future, I hope to use the research and collaboration skills I’ve gained at Greenhouse as a national defense analyst. I believe that Greenhouse’s emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration will help me develop a broader perspective of humanities research and enable me to work effectively with experts from different fields.
What did you do over the summer? If you had an internship, do you feel that your work at Greenhouse Studios complemented your experience?
Over the summer, I interned at a local land reform coalition called DesegregateCT. As an Organizing Intern, I tracked local planning in zoning meetings in Connecticut’s Litchfield and Middlesex counties, helped plan transit community-oriented (TOC) walk audits, and spoke at a pro-homes state candidate training! I feel that my work at Greenhouse Studios complimented my experience at DesegregateCT by preparing me to work with a diverse team whose roles span different fields.
Are there any interests, hobbies, fun facts, or anything else that you would like to share about yourself?
In my free time, I serve as a Student Representative to the UConn Presidential Committee on Corporate Social Responsibility and as the Hartford County Regional Director for the Connecticut Youth Political Advocacy Center (CYPAC). I am also a member of UConn Quiz Bowl, UConn Law Society, and Empowering Women in Law. You can typically find me reading, watching movies, listening to music, traveling the world, or adding to my vintage clothing collection!
